This manual sample press machine is designed to punch test specimens from formed sheets, such as plastic (Elastomer), film, vulcanized rubber, paper, fabrics, etc. It is suitable for various types of dumbbell, circle, or rectangle-shaped die blocks. The machine is user-friendly and can be easily operated with one hand.
The GSM Cutter is widely used for testing paper, paperboard, plastic film, textiles, foil, and bulk bags.
How to determine the fabric's Grams per Square Meter (GSM)?
Cut: Place the fabric on a resilient backing mat. Position the cutter on the fabric and press the handle down firmly to cut a perfect circular sample.
Weigh: Remove the cut sample and weigh it on a precision balance nearest to 0.01g.
Calculate: The GSM is calculated using the formula:
For a 100 cm2 cutter: GSM = Weight in grams × 100
(This works because 100 cm2 is 1/100th of a square meter. Multiplying the sample’s weight by 100 gives the weight per square meter.)
